A pretty skirt for a rainy day. Does anyone else find themselves putting on extra-pretty clothes when the weather is gloomy? I do, just to cheer myself up. I either wear something new, something I usually reserve for more special occasions, or something in a bright, happy color. Otherwise, the entire day is just so BLAH.

Been pining after this skirt for ages, and finally pulled the trigger when it went on sale last week. For anybody looking to pick one up, it's insanely long and runs huge. I'm usually a size 12 in zip-up skirts, and am wearing a 10P here (which is supposed to have a waist measurement closer to a size 8R), and it's still a little too long for my taste, but the waist fits perfectly. By the way, it says on the product page that petite sizes measure 24" long, but that's a lie. My skirt is 25.5" long, and that extra 1.5" makes a big difference when you're 5'3". I had previously tried on a 12R, and not only was it unable to stay above my hips, it was so long that I looked very "Little House on the Prairie." Other than the weird sizing issues, the skirt itself is gorgeous and has wonderful details. It reminds me of scientific illustration, which is a class I miss very, very much.

By the way, in case you're wondering if I seriously have this cardigan in every single color – I do. Okay, not really. I have it in 3 colors, but wish I had more. I brought one home in blue a while back, but last week, it went on sale for $17.99 so I picked up another two. I'm not sure if the sale is still going, but I highly recommend it, and may go back for more colors if I get crazy enough. Target was not kidding when they called it "ultrasoft." IT'S ULTRA SOFT! I want to curl up in it and hibernate for the winter. Weirdly enough, I've found that the rust color that I'm wearing today isn't as soft as the other two colors I own. But it's still pretty damn soft.

P.S.
Over the weekend, I did a guest blog segment for Zzouzi Handmade & Vintage while she was on vacation, which you can read here. If you follow Hello Dodo closely, it won't be anything new for you, since I pulled a couple of my old outfit photos and featured the items I've bought from Zzouzi. It might be worth a look to see how I work vintage into my everyday wardrobe and read about Sarah's adventures in thrifting!
